Prospects for studies of $${D^{*0}} \rightarrow {\mu ^+}{\mu ^-}$$ and $${B^{{*0}}_{(s)}}\rightarrow {\mu ^+}{\mu ^-}$$ decays

Weak decays of the vector $D^{*0}$ and $B_{(s)}^{*0}$ mesons to $\mumu$ final state provide novel potential test Standard Model particle physics. Such processes have extremely small branching fractions as are able decay through electromagnetic (for meson) strong interactions. Nonetheless, production copious quantities these particles in LHC collisions, ability exploit experimental techniques that can suppress background low levels, provides good reach interesting sensitivity. The possibility reconstruct part chain $B^-$ or $B_c^+$ appears particularly attractive due clean signature displaced vertex. Indeed, published LHCb data on $\Bm \to \pim\mumu$ already implies a stringent limit fraction $D^{*0} \mu^+\mu^-$. Estimates made achievable sensitivity \mu^+\mu^-$ $B_{(s)}^{*0} with experiment.
